ABOUT

The team participates in the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) AeroDesign WEST Competition held in Forth Worth, Texas/ Van Nuys, California every year.

The competition is designed to simulate the working of a company in an industry, from conceptualization to design and analysis to manufacture and eventual testing and roll-out. It attracts over 50+ teams from 6 continents across the globe.

A 17 place improvement from when I first joined the team

THREE MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE COMPETITION

  • Technical Design Report

  • Business Presentation

  • Flight Rounds

LEADERSHIP AND STRATEGY

Under my Captaincy of the Technical Design Report & Presentation Teams, the team reached its highest ever rankings. We came 1st among all Asian teams in the competition each year!

I helped the team bring it first piece of silverware home.

As Captain:

  • 2022 - Finished in 2nd place worldwide for the Design Report

  • 2021 - Finished in 4th place worldwide for the Presentation

As Member:

  • 2020 - Finished in 8th overall across all components.

BREAKING BARRIERS

Being the sole female and the only Computer Science student on the team between 2019 and 2021 was not just a title but a responsibility and an opportunity to bring diverse perspectives to the table. It was about pushing the boundaries and inspiring change within the interdisciplinary environment of the club.

LEADING WITH IMPACT

Stepping into the role of the head of Technical Design Report & Presentation teams was both challenging and rewarding. Under my leadership, we not only saw our technical design report ranking catapult to 6th worldwide, finishing 2nd in Asia but also witnessed the team reaching its highest-ever position in 2022, finishing 2nd place worldwide and claiming the 1st position in Asia.

Orientation

'Pradarshana' serves as the college project exhibition, selectively showcasing standout projects from each department and club. Our accomplishments for the year and presentation at this event drew attention and earned us coverage from local news channels.

NUMERICAL ANALYSIS

On the technical front I conducted in-depth numerical analysis using MATLAB, allowing us to accurately predict and optimize the take-off & climb performance, determine dynamic thrust, and fine-tune the wing sizing for our RC prototype, ensuring our bush plane was competitive in its design.
